CALU has teamed with Clarion, Kutztown, Lock Haven, and Shippensburg University to offer an online "Teaching Online Certification Course" for faculty. At this time the course is only available to faculty members.
The course takes 5 weeks to complete and will be delivered completely online via D2L. This is not a self-paced course. It is instructor lead by instructional designers and has participation/discussion requirements, assignments, group work, and weekly due dates. Time will need to be dedicated each week to this course.
- Thursday, May 23 – Orientation
- Tuesday, May 28 – Course Begins (Week 1)
- Sunday, June 30 – Course Ends
The course focuses on:
- How to use the basics of Desire2Learn
- Quality Matters standards
- Developing and structuring an online course
- Using external learning tools such as Collaborate and Campus Pack’s Journals, Blogs, and Wikis
Since faculty members from all five universities will be taking the course, you will be able to interact with other faculty members within the PASSHE system as well as experience an online course environment as a student.
This training opportunity is open to all faculty, even if you have already been certified to teach online. If you have not yet been certified to teach online, completion of this course would count as your certification.
"Seating" for the course is limited and slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
If you are interested in participating in the 5-week course, please fill out the following form to register:
