The next monthly meeting of the California University of PA Civil War Roundtable will be held on Thursday, August 8th, 2013 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM in the KARA-BOOKER GREAT ROOM in the KARA ALUMNI HOUSE on campus.
The speaker will be Mr. Kris White, an alumnus of CALU. Kris has served as a staff military historian at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, where he still volunteers his services. He is also the chief historian and co-founder of the newly formed Emerging Civil War Speakers Bureau.
The topic of his presentation is titled: "Felled by Friendly Fire: The Wounding of James Longstreet."
While riding along the road during an audacious and successful flank attack, Longstreet, like Stonewall Jackson, was accidentally shot by his own men, less than three miles from the spot of Jackson’s fateful wounding. Longstreet’s wounding, like Jackson’s, forever changed the face of the Army of Northern Virginia.
Anyone interested in Civil War History is welcome to attend.
