LIGHTS! CAMERA! CONFERENCE!
Cal U Presents: The 9th Annual Audrey-Beth Fitch Women’s Studies Conference—Employing a Critical Lens: Engaging with Film to Explore Media, Politics, and the Military
This is a FREE conference that is open to the public! We will be hearing from prominent film makers and watching outstanding, award winning films on important issues we face today, including politics, media, and the military.
Thursday March 6th, 2014 from 9:00am-5:00pm
Cal U Convocation Center, North Wing
9am: Continental Breakfast (FREE FOOD!)
9:30-11am: "Madame Presidenta: Why not U.S.?" film premiere that follows the journey of Brazil's first female president. There will be a Q & A with the film director and CEO of Women and Girls Foundation, Heather Arnet.
12:15pm-1:45pm: "The Invisible War” is a film that was nominated for an academy award and received the U.S. Documentary Audience Award at Sundance, and it exposes one of the biggest catastrophes facing the U.S. Military.
2pm-3:15pm: Presentation by Faith J. Dickinson who is the Founder and President of Women in Film and Media Pittsburgh.
3:30m-5pm: "MISS Representation" will be shown, and it exposes how mainstream media contributes to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence in America.
