This was in one of our department emails a few weeks ago, but we wanted some of you to receive an additional reminder about this opportunity.
Secondary Education Science and Math Teacher Program Candidates: For the past two years, the William T. Morris Foundation Scholarship has provided scholarship funds for several students in the amount of $1,000 to $5,000.00 each, less administrative fees. We are hoping to offer those scholarships again. We will receive final notification early this summer.
Those interested in applying for this scholarship should review the criteria listed here and provide evidence of meeting it. The criteria for selection includes, (1) Admitted to Teacher Education by fall 14, (2) high grade point average, (3) high Scholastic Aptitude Test scores (4) demonstrated community service in the first two years of university life, (5) an academic major in a science and/or math teacher certification program, (6) willingness to teach in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and (7) willingness to serve on this selection committee next year to help identify future recipients.
Teacher candidates that are interested in applying for one of these scholarships should put together a small packet of information or PowerPoint as evidence in the six areas listed above as well as a short introductory paragraph as to why you should be considered for this scholarship. Applications for consideration for this scholarship award are due to Dr. Monroe immediately. Scholarship awardees will be notified by mid-July 2014.
