IT Warning: Don’t Rout Yourself Off-Line

California University provides various Information Technology Resources, such as internet access, to support the University’s mission and institutional goals for the purpose of enhancing productivity and maintaining effective communication.

1.    Using routers or other access points can interfere with university provided wireless network access and can create security problems by by-passing anti-virus scans and other safety protocols.

2.    All devices using university internet access should be connected directly into the network, not through routers or other access points.

3.    Any router, access point or device using these will be blocked from the university’s network access until the device is correctly connected.

Information Technology Resources users are encouraged to review the University’s Acceptable Use Policy and Electronic Mail Policy available on the University’s website for more information on appropriate use at www.calu.edu/faculty-staff/it-services/policies-guides/index.htm. The use of routers or access points are prohibited in Section B, Paragraphs 1, 3, 4 & 5.
