The California University of Pennsylvania’s (CalU) Meteorology Club will be hosting its fourth speaker of the fall semester, Anupa Asokan, as part of its Fall Colloquia Series lineup.

 

Asokan will be speaking at 6pm, on November 20th in room 120 of the Eberly Building

 

 

Asokan is currently working with the American Meteorological Society’s Education Program as a content specialist in oceanography and marketing assistant. The title of her talk is: “My Life in the Ocean,” and she will be discussing some of her ocean experiences and adventures, as well as highlighting current issues and career opportunities related to ocean sciences. 

 

Asokan earned her BS is Atmospheric, Oceanic and Environmental Sciences from UCLA, before spending three years working at the Catalina Island Marine Institute as a Marine Science Instructor and Aquarist.  She also worked for several regional non-profits and aquaria, such as Save The Bay in Providence and Heal the Bay's Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.  Asokan is also a SCUBA dive master, an amateur underwater photographer and an avid snorkeler.
