CALIFORNIA, PA. (Jan. 18, 2010)...

GACO, the Government Agency Coordination Office at Cal U, has been awarded a grant of $167,285 from the Defense Logistics Agency of Fort Belvoir, Va.
The federal grant, which extends through Aug. 31, 2010, will support continuing services to regional businesses that are seeking federal, state and local government contracts and subcontracts.

A full-service Procurement Technical Assistance Center, GACO hosts seminars throughout the year that provide education and training in government procurement. Additionally, businesses can attend GACO's annual Procurement Fair to make contact with representatives from federal, state and local agencies and to meet individuals from large corporations who are looking for additional vendors and suppliers.

"Our GACO contracting assistance program has been ongoing since 1985," said Cal U President Dr. Angelo Armenti, Jr. "Over the past 24 years, the Defense Logistics Agency has been a valuable partner in our economic revitalization efforts. Their funding support for GACO enables us to continue to assist companies in all aspects of government contracting. We are very pleased that they have once again provided funding for our program."

Since 1985 GACO has provided contracting assistance services to 1,645 businesses in western Pennsylvania. These businesses have reported receiving more than 28,402 contracts and subcontracts totaling more than $2.2 billion.
