400 expected for autism conference
Nearly 400 people are expected to attend "P.E.P.: The Partnership Continues," the third annual autism conference at California University of Pennsylvania. The conference is co-sponsored by Cal U and Intermediate Unit 1. Dr. Peter Gerhardt, president and chair of the Scientific Council for the Organization for Autism Research, will be the keynote speaker at the event, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 10 on the Cal U campus. He has more than 25 years of experience using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in support of adults and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Check-in will begin at at 8 a.m. in the Performance Center of the Natali Student Center. Afternoon breakout sessions on topics such as "Reading for Learners on the Spectrum," "Autism and Play" and "The Sensory Puzzle" will be led by noted professionals.
