Spring Open House Still On for Feb. 15

If you are registering to attend the Monday, February 15th, Open House.....The check-in process will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Steele Hall Mainstage Theatre. At that time, you will receive a structured schedule of events for the day. The program begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude by 2:00 p.m.

Classes Missed Due to University Closure

As previously announced, the University found it necessary to close campus and cancel all classes due to the state of emergency in the California Borough; power outages that existed in many areas, including Vulcan Village; and extreme weather and road conditions, among other factors.

Classes canceled

Because of inclement weather, classes have been canceled for Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. California Borough has declared a state of emergency; no non-essential traffic on roads.

Fund request OK’d

Washington County commissioners have approved $500,000 in Local Share Account funding to equip the executive conferencing center planned for the Convocation Center. The funds will outfit three conference rooms with "smart" technology.

Reorganizing the Office of Development and Alumni Relations is intended to make the office more effective and to bring Cal U’s capital campaign “to a successful and timely conclusion,” Vice President Ron Huiatt says.

Autism conference

Nearly 400 people are expected for the third annual autism conference for parents, educators and professionals March 10 in the Performance Center. Speaker will be Dr. Peter Gerhardt, president and chair of the Scientific Council for the Organization for Autism Research.

Daffodil Days

Orders are due by Feb. 17 for the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days campaign. Supporters may order cut flowers, potted mini-daffodils, a vase of blooms or a Boyd’s Bear with daffodils. Order forms are available in Duda 111.
