TALK RECALLS 1885 VISIT BY FREDERICK DOUGLASS
The Frederick Douglass Institute at Cal U will host a
lecture by a descendant of the famed orator and abolitionist at 6 p.m. Dec. 7
in Morgan Hall. Kenneth Morris Jr. will discuss his famous ancestor in an
address that commemorates Frederick Douglass’ visit to South Western Normal
School, the forerunner of Cal U, on Nov. 20, 1885.
President of the Frederick Douglass Family Foundation,
Morris is the great-great-great-grandson of Douglass, one of the foremost
leaders of the movement that fought to end slavery in the United States in the
decades prior to the Civil War.
