

CAL U WELCOMES SCOUTS FOR SPRING CAMP-O-REE

About 200 Boy Scouts and troop leaders will spend a weekend camping outdoors and exploring careers May 13-15 when the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America holds its spring Camp-o-ree on Cal U’s south and main campuses. From 9:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m., Scouts will take part in hands-on programs exploring career fields such as computer science, robotics, parks and recreation, forensic science, 3-D animation and digital communication. Activities include work on the Boy Scouts’ new robotics merit badge, an outdoor leadership challenge and a geocaching adventure. Lunch break is noon-1 p.m. in the Gold Rush dining area. After dinner in the Gold Rush, Scouts return to their campsites at Roadman Park, where a closing ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Greater Pittsburgh Council serves Scouting in Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, Washington and parts of Fayette and Westmoreland counties.
