Parents may register children
now for the Cal U Reading Specialist Program, which offers diagnostic testing
and remedial tutoring in reading for children in grades 1-12. Students in the graduate-level
Reading Specialist Practicum will
work with young readers from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays, June 22 to July 28, in
the Keystone Education Building on campus. Each child enrolled in the
program will work with a certified teacher who is earning an additional certification
as a reading specialist. The parents or guardians of
each participating child will receive a case report and a summary of the
child's reading progress at the conclusion of the program. Cost of the program is $100. To enroll a child, request
registration materials from Dr. Christine Peterson, associate professor in the
Department of Elementary/Early Childhood Education, at 724-938-4135 or at peterson@calu.edu.
