GATES REACHES OLYMPIC TIME TRIAL MARK

California University of Pennsylvania rising senior Melissa Gates
(Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) reached the 2012 Olympic Team Trial
qualifying time in the 50 freestyle over the weekend at the USA Swimming
Eastern Zone Super Section, hosted by Pitt at Trees Pool.
Gates, who captured the NCAA Division II National Championship in the 50
freestyle this past winter, won the finals of the event on Sunday with a
time of 26.23 seconds (50-meter pool). She qualified for the finals by
posting a time of 27.23 seconds in the preliminaries earlier in the day.
