CAL U: PARTNER IN CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER INITIATIVE
November 30, 2011
Cal U joins the Carnegie Science Center and Chevron Corp. as a founding partner in the Chevron Center for STEM Education and Career Development, a "center without walls" launched Nov. 30. The center's goal: to foster student interest in science, technology, engineering and math.

CROWS RETURN, RELOCATION PROGRAM BEGINS AGAIN

Cal U again is taking humane measures to move large flocks of crows from the campus. The USDA-approved dispersal program mirrors efforts that were successful in relocating the birds last winter.

VOLLEYBALL SEASON ENDS AT NCAA REGIONAL FINAL

A 13-match winning streak came to an end when the women’s volleyball team finished its season with a 3-1 loss to Wheeling-Jesuit in the finals of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional at Hamer Hall.

FOOTBALL SEASON ENDS IN SECOND ROUND OF PLAYOFFS

The Vulcan football team was eliminated from the NCAA Division II playoffs after losing 35-28 at Winston-Salem State (N.C.) in a second-round game on Nov. 26. The 17th-ranked Vulcans finish the season with a 10-3 overall record.

WOMEN’S SOCCER ENDS WITH LOSS IN QUARTERFINALS

Cal U’s second-ranked women’s soccer team ended its season with a tough 1-0 loss to the College of Saint Rose on Nov. 20 in Albany, N.Y. The PSAC champion Vulcans finish the season with a program-best 20-1-2 overall record.

RUNNER DINZEO EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS

Cross country runner Aaron Dinzeo became the fifth All-American in Cal U program history when he finished 20th overall at the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships in Spokane, Wash.

TODAY: VEX ROBOTICS COMPETITIONS

Cal U will host a pair of VEX Robotics competitions from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19 in the Performance Center, inside Natali. Four collegiate teams will compete on Nov. 18 and regional high schools will square off Nov. 19 for a chance to qualify for the 2012 VEX Robotics World Championship.

Military Times EDGE magazine ranks Cal U No. 4 in the nation for its commitment to helping military veterans pursue higher education. Cal U is the only school in the State System of Higher Education and 1 of 2 schools in Pennsylvania to be included in the 2011 "Best for Vets" list.
