UPDATE, Nov. 19, 2011:

Sophomore distance runner Aaron Dinzeo became the fifth All-American in Cal U program history when he finished 20th overall at the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships in Spokane, Wash.

Dinzeo, of Sidney, Ohio, finished with a time of 31 minutes, 45.6 seconds — the second fastest time among runners from the Atlantic Region.

He is Cal’s first All-American cross country runner since Christopher Clark in 2008.

Cross country runner Aaron Dinzeo has qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships.

He earned the berth by finishing fourth overall at the NCAA II Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Slippery Rock University. 

Dinzeo, a sophomore from Sidney, Ohio, will compete at the NCAA National Championships on Nov. 19 in Spokane, Wash.

He is the first Cal U runner to qualify for the NCAA National Championship since five-time All-American Christopher Clark won the regional title in 2008.

In the Nov. 5 championship meet at Cooper’s Lake Campground, in Slippery Rock, Pa., the Vulcans placed ninth in the team standings with a total of 231 points.

Edinboro captured its first regional team title since 2007. 

Dinzeo earned all-region honors, placing fourth in a field of 173 runners with a time of 32:07.

Over the last two seasons, Dinzeo has been the team's top runner in 12 races.

Junior Chris Poss finished second for the Vulcans and 43rd overall, crossing the finish line with a time of 34:16.
