THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE FROM ACTING PRESIDENT GERALDINE JONES
Posted on July 13, 2012
From: Acting
President Geraldine M. Jones I’d like to share some
good news with our students and their families: The annual fees paid by
full-time undergraduate students at Cal U will decrease in the upcoming
academic year. Specifically: A number of other fees
will remain at 2011-2012 rates. They include fees for academic support, the
Herron Recreation and Fitness Center, transportation, student center operations
and maintenance, and University services. The only increases are
in the academic support fee ($18 increase) and the technology fee ($10
increase). Let’s do the math: For
a student who chooses to drive to campus and park in a Tier 2 campus lot, the
overall decrease in fees totals $186 for the academic year. As you know, tuition
at all PASSHE universities, including Cal U, will increase by $188 ($94 per
semester) for the upcoming academic year. However, the decrease in fees means
that Cal U students will pay just $1 more per semester in academic year
2012-2013 than they did last year. I hope that students
and their families will take these figures into account as they plan for the
fall semester. Cal U is working hard to control costs, and a Cal U education
remains an excellent value for students who are seeking high-quality academic
programs and a memorable college experience. More than
nine out of 10 Cal U students receive some form of financial aid to help pay
their college expenses. Staff members in the Office of Financial Aid are
available to assist students and their families. If you have questions, please
call the office at 724- 938-4415, e-mail finaid@calu.edu or stop
by the office on the first floor of Dixon Hall. No appointment is necessary. Additional
information, including key dates and deadlines, is available online at http://www.calu.edu/current-students/financial-aid/.
To: All students,
faculty, staff, alumni and University friends
