‘SIMPLE GIFTS’ PERFORMS ETHNIC FOLK MUSIC
Posted on September 21, 2012
The women’s trio Simple
Gifts will present a workshop and perform ethnic folk music Sept. 25 at Cal
U. The women play a variety of instruments — including the concertina, mandolin, banjolin, hammered
dulcimer and many others — as they perform lively Irish jigs, haunting
Gypsy melodies, Appalachian reels and other traditional folk music from around
the world. Two events are scheduled: Both events will be held in Gallagher Hall, Room 107.
Students, faculty, staff and the general public may attend. Admission is free. The performance is presented by the California Recital
Series (funded by the Student Activities Board and the College of Liberal Arts)
and the Women’s Studies program at Cal U.
