

BROWN TO SPEAK ABOUT WRITING AND WEATHER

The
California University Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of
America and the Meteorology Club at California University will be hosting guest
speaker Dr. Vankita Brown on Cal U’s campus on Oct. 17 and 18. Dr. Brown will speak to students about
her experiences with the National Weather Service (NWS), her experience in
public relations, and professionalism during a resume and cover letter workshop. Dr.
Brown is a social scientist, who earned her doctorate degree in mass communications and media studies from Howard University. Along the way, Dr. Brown also worked for
NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Through her great
achievements, she has been involved in many organizations such as, Association for
Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), Popular Cultural
Association, CORO Women in Leadership, and American Meteorological Society. Dr. Brown will address students both in
classes and during the common hour on Oct. 18 in Eberly, Room 110. She
will also conduct a resume and professionalism workshop for students with an
interest in social science. at 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 17 in Eberly, Room 255. For a full schedule of events, contact
