UPDATE: The women's soccer team lost to Slippery Rock, 1-0, in the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament, played at the Phillipsburg soccer complex. The Vulcans finish the 2012 season with a 16-5-1 overall record. This was the team's fourth consecutive NCAA post-season appearance. The women’s soccer team (16-4-1) has received an opening bye and will
host an NCAA Division II Tournament second-round game 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the
Phillipsburg Soccer Facility. The Vulcans’ opponent will be determined when Edinboro and Slippery Rock
face off in first-round competition at 2 p.m. Nov. 9, also at Cal U’s soccer
field. Coached by Gene Smith, the team is making its fourth consecutive
appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The women advanced to the
national quarterfinals last year and in 2009. The finalists in the Atlantic region will square off in the third and
quarterfinal rounds on Nov. 16 and 18. Cal U would host these games if
they win on Nov. 11. The NCAA Division II national semifinals and championship matches are
scheduled for Nov. 29 and Dec. 1 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., hosted
by the Peach Belt Conference.
