WOMEN’S HOCKEY COMPETES IN CHAMPIONSHIP

The women's hockey team concluded its season with a 3-0 loss to the University of Alaska at the ACHA Division II National Tournament. The Vulcans are now 22-5-1 overall and finished 1-1-1 in pool play. The women’s hockey team continued
action at the ACHA Division II National Tournament in Ashburn, Va., with a 2-2
tie against Minnesota Duluth. Cal U trailed 2-0 after two periods
before freshman Kelsey DeNardo scored her fourth goal in two games. Junior Dana
Bowersox tied the game with 3:29 remaining in the third period and neither team
scored in the five-minute overtime. With the tie, the Vulcans are 22-4-1 overall and will
faceoff against the University of Alaska at 7:45 p.m. The women’s hockey team opened action at the ACHA
Division II National Tournament in Ashburn, Va., with a 4-3 win over North
Dakota State University. Freshman Kelsey DeNardo scored the game-winning goal, her third goal of the game,
with 41 seconds remaining. With the win, the Vulcans improve to 22-4 overall. On March 8 the team will play
Minnesota-Duluth at 11 a.m. and the University of Alaska at 7:45 p.m. For the second year
in a row, the women’s hockey team will compete at the American
Collegiate Hockey Association’s (ACHA) Division II National Tournament. The 2013 tourney runs from
March 7-10 at the Ashburn Ice House in Ashburn, Va. Ranked second in ACHA’s D-II West Region, the Cal U women are 21-4
overall. They finished third at the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey
Conference (DVCHC) tournament earlier this season. The Vulcans will open the tournament on March 7 by facing North
Dakota State University at 4 p.m. On March 8 the team will play Minnesota-Duluth at 11 a.m. and the
University of Alaska at 7:45 p.m. Follow the
