Cal U’s women’s soccer team ended its 2013 season ended with a 3-0 loss to Slippery Rock in a third-round NCAA Division II Tournament game contested at Albany, N.Y.

The PSAC champion Vulcans finish the season with an 18-3-2 overall record.

 


UPDATE: November 17, 2013 

 

Cal U’s women’s soccer team defeated Kutztown 6-1 in a second round NCAA Division II Tournament game contested at Cal U’s Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

Junior forward Erin Hogan scored two goals and added two assists as Cal U owned a 5-0 halftime lead.

The sixth-ranked and PSAC champion Vulcans improve to 18-2-2 overall. Cal U advances to the NCAA round of 16 against Slippery Rock on Nov. 22, which will be played at Albany, N.Y.

 


The women’s soccer team (17-2-2) has received an opening bye and will host an NCAA Division II Tournament second-round game against Kutztown Nov. 17 at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility, beginning at noon.

 

Coached by Gene Smith, the team is making its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The women advanced to the national quarterfinals in 2011 and in 2009.

Last week Cal U won its second PSAC championship in three years with conference tournament home victories over Mercyhurst, Shippensburg, and West Chester.

The finalists in the Atlantic region will square off in the third and quarterfinal rounds on Nov. 22 and 24 at the home field of the highest remaining seed in the East region. 

The NCAA Division II national semifinals and championship matches are scheduled for Dec. 5 and 7 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., hosted by the Peach Belt Conference.
