RUNNER COMPETES IN WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Freshman runner Julius Rivera finished sixth in the first heat of the 200-meter dash at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Junior Outdoor Championships, in Eugene, Oregon.

Rivera's time of 21.80 seconds placed him 54th in the overall competition.

Freshman runner Julius Rivera will compete in the 200-meter dash at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Junior Outdoor Championships beginning July 24, in Eugene, Oregon.

Rivera qualified for this event after posting a time of 21.43 seconds at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Junior Championships, which took place earlier this month in Morelia, Mexico.

All-American freshman Julie Friend will serve as an alternate in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the IAAF World Junior Outdoor Championships following a third-place showing earlier this month at USATF Junior Outdoor Championships.
