Junior Summer Hill earned second-team All-America honors by placing 12th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:35.53 during the final day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla.
 
This marks the second consecutive year Hill earned All-America honors in the 1,500-meter run. She finished ninth nationally in 2016.
 
This concludes Cal U's athletic year.

UPDATE: May 25, 2017

Junior Summer Hill qualified for the finals of the 1,500-meter run on May 25 during the first day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla.

Hill finished 10th in the preliminaries, with a time of 4:28.89. She will compete in the finals at 5:35 p.m. March 27.

Classmate Julie Friend competed in the 10,000-meter run on May 25 but was unable to finish.

Juniors Julie Friend and Summer Hill will compete in separate events at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Women’s Track and Field National Championships May 25-27 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Hill competes in the women’s 1,500-meter preliminaries at 5:55 p.m. May 25, with hopes of advancing to the finals at 5:35 p.m. May 27. 

Last year she earned second-team All-American honors in this event by finishing ninth in the finals. 

Friend competes in the women’s 10,000-meter run at 8:55 p.m. May 25, and the 5,000-meter run at 8:05 p.m. on May 27.

Previously, Friend earned outdoor All-American honors twice, both times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
