Cal U celebrates Family Day Sept. 9 with a full slate of activities for all ages. Families and friends are encouraged to enjoy time together and experience the best of Cal U.

This schedule has been updated.

Unless noted, all events are free. 

Family Day activities

8 a.m. — Bookstore opens (until 3 p.m.).

9 a.m. — Registration, information desk, Natali Student Center. Free T-shirts for first 500 registrants. Modeco open in the Student Center (until 3 p.m.).

10 a.m. — University Choir Concert, Convocation Center courtyard. (Rain location: Morgan Hall auditorium.)

10 a.m. — Women’s volleyball vs. Lake Erie (Ohio), Convocation Center.

10 a.m.-6 p.m. — Heron Recreation & Fitness Center open (including climbing wall); free passes for guests age 16 and older.

10:30 a.m. — Brunch begins in the Gold Rush ($7.25 for adults, $4 for children under 12). Kids' activities on the patio.

10:45 a.m. — Presentation of the Jennie Carter Award, Convocation Center courtyard. The annual award is named for Elizabeth “Jennie” Carter, Cal U’s first African-American graduate. This year’s recipient is Blayre Holmes Davis ’12, director of Community Partnerships at Adagio Health in Pittsburgh, Pa. (Rain location: Morgan Hall auditorium.)

11 a.m.-2 p.m. — Kids activities and interactive displays, Third Street near the Natali Student Center.

11 a.m.-4 p.m. — Computer Club virtual reality experience, Airport Lounge, Natali Student Center.

Noon -4 p.m. — 12th annual Family Field Day, organized by the student chapter of The Wildlife Society, in and around Frich Hall. Activities focus on wildlife and nature.

Noon — Free movie, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2,” Vulcan Theater. Additional showings at 4 and 7 p.m.

12:30-2 p.m.—Bingo games sponsored by Student Housing, Performance Center, Natali Student Center. 

1 p.m. — Vulcan football, Cal U vs. Cheyney, Adamson Stadium. Ticket price is $10; visiting students pay $5; Cal U students, faculty and staff with valid CalCards are admitted free, along with children ages 12 and younger. Kids Zone and Vulcan Huddle alumni tent open at 11 a.m.

4 p.m. — Women’s volleyball vs. Daemen College (N.Y.), Convocation Center.
