Original story:

The Vulcans football team has earned the Super Region One’s sixth seed.

The team will compete in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs, facing third-seeded Assumption College 1 p.m. Nov. 18 at Multi-Sport Stadium in Worchester, Mass.

The Vulcans (9-2), under the direction of second-year head coach Gary Dunn, are making their second consecutive NCAA Division II Football Playoff appearance.

It’s the program’s seventh trip to the playoffs since 2007.

The Cal U Vulcans run onto the football field.

In the other first-round Super Region One games, second-seeded Shepherd (W.Va.) hosts seventh-seeded Findlay (Ohio), and fourth-seeded Shippensburg hosts fifth-seeded West Chester.

A victory on Nov. 18 would move the Vulcans into the regional semifinals on Nov. 25 against the Shepherd-Findlay winner. IUP received the region’s top-seed and a first-round bye.
