Requirements for Verification of Active Duty Military Status

New active duty military applicants will need to present the following documentation for the initial verification of current Active Duty Military status:

  • A copy your Deployment Orders that confirms and verifies the dates of Active Duty service/status and/or
  • A memorandum from your Education office or Commander

Requirements for Verification of Spouses and Dependents

Spouses and Dependents of active duty military must present the following documentation for initial verification of affiliation with an active duty soldier:

  • A copy of the service member's military orders

Submit the above documents to the Office of Web-Based Programs/Global Online to calugo@calu.edu, Attention: Jessica Chill-Harbulak, or chillbharbulak@calu.edu. The fax number for Global Online is 724-938-4270. In addition, the documents for Active Duty verification should be faxed to Robert Prah, Director of Veteran's Affairs at 724-938-4584.

About the Tuition Assistance (TA) Program

If you are a current Global Online student utilizing the Tuition Assistance (TA) program, your TA form will be sufficient to verify Active Duty for each term enrolled after the initial verification of Active Duty with the above documents.

Please Note: Military students who are utilizing the Tuition Assistance (TA) program must submit their TA forms prior to the start of each term the student plans to attend. The TA form must be submitted prior to the start of each term to be eligible for in-state rates for that term. In addition, the billing amount that TA will not be covering is the student's financial responsibility and must be paid in full by the due date of each term.

Global Online students should fax the Tuition Assistance (TA) form to 724-938-5983, Attn: Barb or email as a PDF attachment  to cupbursars@calu.edu

In addition, the documents for Active Duty verification should be faxed to Robert Prah, Director of Veteran's Affairs at 724-938-4584 and/or emailed to veterans@calu.edu

Please note:  The difference/amount that your Army TA will not cover is your financially responsibility and is due upfront by the due date and/or start of each semester.  It is the soldier's/student's responsibility to know how much the Army will be submitting in TA per semester.  You can view your status of TA via your GoArmyEd Portal account.  In addition, you can view your CALU billing statement as well as make a payment through VIP.

Veterans Benefits

Students taking their courses 100% online now qualify for 100% of housing payments through the Post 9/11 starting in October 2011!

Housing allowance is now payable to students (other than those on active duty) enrolled solely in distance learning.  The housing allowance payable is equal to ½ the national average BAH for an E-5 with dependents.

  • Full-time rate for an individual eligible at the 100% eligibility tier would be $673.50 for 2011.
  • Also allows students on active duty to receive a books and supplies stipend.
