Financing Your College Education

Your Cal U education is one of the most important investments you and your family will ever make, but paying for college often seems overwhelming. The Financial Aid Office at California University of Pennsylvania is here to help. More than 90% of all Cal U students receive financial aid, usually in some combination of loans, grants, scholarships and work-study jobs. Every student who applies to Cal U is given careful consideration, and the University determines the amount and type of financial aid assistance you need based on federal, state and institutional guidelines. The goal of our office is to ensure that courteous, timely and accurate financial aid services are delivered to all students seeking assistance.

How Financial Aid Works

When it comes to paying for a college education, you and your family will be expected to contribute as much as you can from your own income, savings and assets. To ensure fairness, all post-secondary institutions across the country use the same Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine a student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC). After the University receives the results of your FAFSA form, they will assemble a financial aid package that addresses your remaining need. There are four primary sources of financial aid - the federal and state government, the University, and private agencies. In most situations you can speak with our knowledgeable Financial Aid window/phone staff on demand. For more complex Financial Aid situations, we have an on-call counselor available during normal business office hours. Appointments are available but not required.
