Pittsburgh Penguins Scholarship Applications Now Available
Since 1992, the Penguins have awarded over $94,500 in higher education scholarships to deserving Pittsburgh area high school seniors through the "Continuing Education" and "Bob Johnson Memorial" scholarships.
Applications for this year's awards are now available online at pittsburghpenguins.com. Students must have a grade-point average of 3.2 or better to qualify for a Penguins scholarship and must possess a commitment to academic achievement, community service and participation in school activities as well as other leadership skills as outlined on each award's application.
Applications for the Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association Scholarship are also being accepted at this time.

The Community Foundation of Fayette County
The Community Foundation of Fayette County offers a variety of educational awards ranging from $100 to $1500. These awards are available to graduating high school seniors and to students already enrolled in a college, university, or business school. Awards cover a wide range of designations and interests, but applicants must be Fayette County residents to apply.
To be considered for an educational award, applicants must submit the Community Foundation's standardized Scholarship Application Form, along with the following:
- a copy of SAT or ACT scores
- a transcript stating cumulative GPA
- the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Students may apply anytime between January 1 and April 1, but applications must be post-marked by April 1, to be considered. Selection is based on a variety of factors including academic promise and financial need. However, some scholarships do not require financial need as part of their criteria. The Addison H. Gibson Foundation
The Addison H. Gibson Foundation offers low-interest educational loans to residents of western Pennsylvania.
To be eligible, you must:
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a baccalaureate (BS/BA) or graduate degree program.
- Have completed at least one full-time year of studies in your current degree program within the past four months.
- Be in good academic standing.
- Be able to demonstrate financial need, and existing debt must fall within established foundation parameters.

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Sen. Barry M. Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman. His career included 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate. The purpose of the foundation is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields. National Association of Black Journalists Scholarships (NABJ)
Competition for the scholarship is open to any black student who is currently attending an accredited four-year university.
To qualify, you must:
- Be an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in journalism (print, radio, online or television).
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

RICHARD G. SNYDER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship provides educational assistance for college junior, senior or postgraduate students majoring in the fields of agriculture or earth and mineral science at an accredited four-year college or university located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as approved by the foundation's board of directors. Preference will be given to residents of Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Lawrence counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In order to qualify, the applicant must:
- Be a college junior, senior or postgraduate student from Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Lawrence counties.
- Be enrolled at a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania college or university either full or part time with a declared major in the field of agriculture or earth and mineral science.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Army Emergency Relief (AER)
Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial assistance to Army soldiers and their dependents in time of valid emergency need. AER's education program is a secondary mission to help Army families with the costs of education.
AER offers the following three scholarships:

- Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program
- Major General James Ursano Scholarship Fund for Dependent Children

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS!
Students pursuing graduate degrees in social work or mental health are eligible for scholarships of up to $5,000 per year from Central Scholarship Bureau.
The Stulman Endowed Scholars Program provides scholarships to bilingual students pursuing graduate degrees in social work or mental health, who are willing to agree to one year of service in Maryland as a bilingual specialist in mental health or social work for each year the scholarship is awarded. Strong preference will be given to Spanish speakers. The Babette H. Dalsheimer Scholarship Fund is available to all outstanding students working toward graduate social work degrees, and requires that students agree to work as a social worker in Maryland for one year for each year the scholarship is awarded.
To apply, students must complete our online scholarship application, which will be available until May 1. The Stulman Scholars Program has an early application deadline of March 1. Students who complete the application prior to this deadline will be given preference when selecting recipients.
Completing this application means that students will be considered for the social work scholarships, as well as any of our other scholarships for which they may be eligible. Once the application is complete, students will receive instructions for submission of supporting documents, which are due to be postmarked by May 15.
We also offer an interest-free loan program, and students will be given the opportunity to opt-in to be considered for loan awards upon completing of the online application.
Interviews of potential scholarship recipients begin in June, and awards are announced in mid to late July.

The Fayette County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is offering two $500 Scholarships to non-traditional students who are Fayette Couny residents, and of African-American, Hispanic, Latino, First Nation or Asian ancestry. ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL, INC. OF HARRISBURG SCHOLARSHIP
Altrusa Club of Harrisburg is offering a MINIMUM Scholarship of $500 for the 2012-2013 School year. Interested Applicants who will be enrolled in a post-secondary institution for the 2012-2013; demonstrate strong academic performance; financial need; dedication to community involvement and service; and be a residence of either Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry or York Counties.
