Ways to Stay Active at Cal U

Look better, feel better, sleep better, study better, be better. These are just a few reasons why you should consider taking advantage of the University’s fitness center and recreational facility.

Students who take classes on campus or live in the dorms are automatically members and able to take full advantage of equipment and services. Others can pay to join.

The Department of Recreational Services, based inside the Herron Recreation and Fitness Center, provides college students who are interested in physical fitness and healthy living with plenty of ways to keep moving:

  1. Informal recreation: This is you, self-motivated and ready to move! Options include gymnasiums, a swimming pool, a racquetball area, weights, a climbing wall and an indoor track.
  2. Group fitness: Led by trained instructors and open to all fitness levels. A new schedule is available each semester.
  3. Intramurals: Structured meets, contests, tournaments and leagues limited to members of the Cal U community.
  4. Sports clubs: Athletic competition with off-campus rivals.

In addition to a healthy dose of competition and recreational sports, Cal U’s Healthy Habits includes workshops and programs on nutrition and healthy food choices, managing stress, staying motivated and more.
