The Campus

Cal U's 294-acre campus is nestled on a bend of the Monongahela River in the borough of California, Pa., 35 miles south of Pittsburgh. One of the first things you'll notice when you visit for the first time is the natural beauty. Tree-lined lawns, broad walkways and exquisite landscaping surround restored historic buildings and new residence halls that have been recognized by the National Building Museum as among the finest in the nation.

The Arboretum at California University of Pennsylvania is a public garden encompassing our 92-acre lower campus. We're building an extensive collection that includes examples of nearly every tree indigenous to Pennsylvania. Lovely stained glass windows featuring Pennsylvania wildflowers, which grace the Grand Hall of Old Main, were created by Leslie Parkinson, emeritus professor of art. Another favorite site is the Manderino Library Gallery, an intimate space that features exhibitions from the Carnegie Museum of Art and other top museums and private collections. Take time to stroll through our sculpture garden, which features the magnificent "Ascent of Humanity" sculpture near the Duda World Cultures Building.

At Cal U, we're small enough to feel like family, yet large enough to offer variety and diversity. Spend some time getting to know us! Take a virtual tour, come visit or request information to learn more about campus life at Cal U.
