Cal U students Tamara Al-Khattar, Courtney Cochran, Camilla Cionni and Maria Herrera finished second in the 2011/2012 iOme Challenge.
The iOme (as in “I owe me”) is a national effort to engage young people to think about their financial future. What started as a group of concerned citizens from Green Bay, Wis., grew into a national contest among colleges and universities across the United States.
Teams had to complete two components: a 10,000-word essay and a 60-second video that addresses a specific topic.
This year’s topic focused on the decreasing use of savings by younger generations and how teams would propose to change that trend and increase savings rates.
The Top 10 videos were voted on by the public and the Cal U group received over 2,000 votes.
