At the completion of this program, you will be ready for your level 2 professional certificate. Also, you will have a "jump start" if you decide to apply for National Board of Professional Teaching Standards teaching certification. In addition to classroom teaching, secondary education graduates can expand their career opportunities by completing the field experience and adding and the Pennsylvania Online Teaching Endorsement to their certificate. This program attracts teachers in Pennsylvania and across the United States.

Curriculum, Admission Requirements and Related Programs

As a master's degree student, you'll be expected to complete your degree requirements in five semesters - two courses each semester, including summer sessions. Classes will use participation in online activities, including small group projects, case studies, papers, exams, discussion and debate, as the basis for earning credits. Admission Requirements

Regular Admission Requirements

  • Regionally accredited bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (Students with a GPA below 3.0 may apply for conditional admission)
  • Official transcripts from an accredited undergraduate institution
  • Copy of teaching certification

Conditional Admission Requirements

  • Conditional Admission may be granted with the following modifications of the Regular Admissions Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree with a GPA under 3.0 will be reviewed for a decision
    • Copy of teaching certification

Provisional Admission:
Applicants who have provided unofficial documentation of test scores, prerequisite courses, transcripts or lack of letter(s) of recommendation may be admitted provisionally.

This policy also applies to undergraduate students who apply for graduate admission pending bachelor degree completion. Upon receipt of all official documents, a student will be changed from Provisional Admission to either Regular Admission or Conditional Admission. Provisional Admission students may take classes for one term but will not be eligible for Federal Financial Aid.

In this M.Ed. program you will apply knowledge that promotes the success of every student through an educational leadership field experience that has school-based field experiences and other reflective application projects in your own classroom. You can also complete the optional online teaching field experience to be able to add the Online Teaching endorsement.
