Bachelor of Arts in Theatre

Our theatre program is an undergraduate degree program in the College of Liberal Arts and is also included in the undergraduate degree secondary education communication certification program in the College of Education and Human Services.

Dance is an undergraduate program in the College of Liberal Arts as well. Theatre and dance serve a dual function, providing occupational education and training for talented students pursuing careers in theatre or dance, and providing educational and performance opportunities for all students.

We are a member of the National Association for Schools of Theatre (NAST). Cal U is one of only a handful of schools in Pennsylvania and less then 175 in the nation with this honor.

What Theatre Majors Learn: The Advantages Theatre Majors Have for All Jobs

Success Stories

Michelle Sesco (B.A. Theatre ’98) enjoys the excitement of Broadway every night. As a dresser on the Tony Award winning show, Jersey Boys, Sesco is responsible for prepping costumes, shoes, and accessories as well as assisting with costume changes during the performance, stitching anything that needs to be repaired and more. Although her undergraduate degree concentrated on performance, Sesco realized early in her career that theatre majors needed to know every aspect of putting on the show. She has worked both on stage and behind the scenes. Sesco advises students to “Get out there and do whatever you have to do.”
