Through its Office of University Development and Alumni Relations, Cal U builds partnerships with organizations in the public, private and nonprofit sectors -- locally, regionally and nationally. As part of the University’s mission, the executive director of community and corporate relations facilitates connections between businesses and Cal U to meet the region’s market and workforce needs and to partner with organizations to create opportunities for the region and the University.

Cal U is especially interested in partnering with organizations that are committed to developing capacity in these areas:
- Engineering, science and production, including mechatronics, robotics, unmanned aerial systems/drones, and environmental and Earth sciences.
- Business and finance, including business analytics, entrepreneurship, statistics and SAS/data science, economics and accounting.
