Students talk during a study-abroad opportunity. University Honors Program Travel

Students in Cal U's Honors Program have multiple opportunities to travel and learn about specific subjects and cultures. Some of the ways students travel include:

  • ExcursionsIn the autumn and spring semesters, the UHP organizes excursions related to the Honors courses offered those terms. These excursions, which typically last from three to five days, give students the opportunity to conduct hands-on research, visit libraries, archives, and museums related to their research and coursework, and visit important cultural and historical sites.
  • ConferencesThe UHP participates in three annual conferences regularly and often sponsors student participation in other, often specialized gatherings. As with other UHP travel opportunities, if a student's proposal is accepted at one of these conferences, the UHP will pay for all travel and registration expenses.
  • Summer ProgramSince 1985, the State System has provided Honors students from the fourteen state universities with the opportunity to study abroad through the Summer Honors Program. Each student’s scholarship covers the cost of 6 academic credits, travel and room and board at the host university and abroad.

The UHP organizes excursions related to courses offered to students. See where students have visited in the past and receive information on upcoming travel.

Conferences provide students the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise with others. If your paper is selected at a conference, the UHP may help with travel expenses.

Study Abroad Summer Program

Although it is a competitive selection process, students in the UHP may study abroad with other State System students in the summer.
