The Department of Recreational Services offer a variety of fitness programming through Herron Recreation and Fitness Center. These programs provides opportunities and assistance to HRFC members who wish to be involved in a personal exercise program. This voluntary program is designed to motivate individuals, assess their level of fitness, and influence their decision to maintain a positive fitness lifestyle.
Each semester, the Department of Recreational Services offers virtual events for members that promote awareness of the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and educate participants on monitoring heart rate during exercise.
Group Fitness Classes
Herron Recreation and Fitness Center offers a variety of group fitness classes for members. These classes are designed to be motivational and offer support to participants. Led by trained instructors that will help make the experience in the classes both safe and effective. Classes are open to all conditioning levels and are open to all members of HRFC.
Fitness Classes Schedule
A new schedule is available for Group Fitness Classes each semester at Herron Recreation & Fitness Center. Schedules are also available on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Classes are open to all members and suitable for all fitness levels.

Q: What should I bring to a group fitness class?
A: Suggested items to bring to Group Fitness Classes:
- Water bottle
- Personal Items (Yoga mat, bicycle seat, etc.)
Q: What should I wear to class?
A: Comfortable clothing is recommended. Please wear support shoes (except for yoga - bare feet). We recommend capri length pants of shorts for cycle classes.
Q: Do I need to register or sign up for a group fitness class?
A: You do not have to sign uo for any classes, with the exception of cycle classes. Cycle is limited to 12 bikes, so you must call the day of class to reserve a bike (724-938-5907).
