Chisholm began his military service as an enlisted soldier in the Army in February 1984. On Sept. 29, 1989, he completed Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga., and was commissioned a second lieutenant. 

    His military education includes Airborne School, Air Assault School, Ranger School, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Armor Officer Advance Course, Combined Arms Service Staff School, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and U.S. Army War College.

    Chisholm served in numerous command and staff positions from company command through CJTF level. Over the past 10 years he has served as G-3 Chief of Plans, 28th Infantry Division, Multi-National Brigade North, Eagle Base, Bosnia-Herzegovina (2002-2003); Commander, 2nd Battalion 112th Infantry (2004-2006); ACofS, G3, 28th Infantry Division (2006-2009); ACofS, G3, Pennsylvania Army National Guard (2009-2010); Deputy Commander, TAC 2, CJTF-101, 101st Airborne Division, FOB Lightning, Gardez Afghanistan (2010-2011); Chief Of Staff, 28th Infantry Division (2011-2012).  He assumed command of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team headquartered in Washington, PA on 16 November 2012.

    Chisholm earned his bachelor’s degree in human resources management at California University of Pennsylvania; a master’s degree in strategic studies at the U.S. Army War College; and a master’s degree in leadership and ethics at Duquesne University.

    His awards and decorations include a Bronze Star Medal, four Meritorious Service medals, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2nd OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (1st OLC), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" device, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Medal with "2" device, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon,  Afghan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Ranger Tab, Airborne Badge and Air Assault Badge.

    Chisholm and his wife, Karen, have two children, Spencer and Blake.
