PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

The call for proposals has closed.

Proposals for the 2019 State System Summit on Inclusive Excellence and International Education will be accepted from faculty, professional staff, graduate and undergraduate students. Joint faculty/staff-student presentations also are welcome. 

Proposals should reflect the summit theme, Intersectionality for Student Success, and offer practical applications. Opportunities for engagement with the audience are welcome.

The call for proposals has closed.

Presenters will be notified of acceptance by Aug. 30, 2019. If your proposal is accepted, all presenters will be expected to attend the summit on Nov. 7-6, 2019, and pay for registration(s), travel and lodging. If presenters of accepted proposals do not register for the summit within the timeline prescribed, the presentation maybe cancelled or replaced. 

Conference registration will begin Sept. 16 and continue through Oct. 18, 2019, online at calu.edu/summit2019. 

Submission Requirements

Present a Paper
Individual submissions of complete papers should include these elements:

  1. Title of the proposal (maximum of 50 characters or spaces).
  2. Author’s contact information: Must include name, position, institution, mailing address, telephone number and email address.*
  3. Proposal abstract (maximum 50 words, for conference program).
  4. Presentation description (maximum 250-400 words): Must include the paper’s title, target audience, summary of presentation, relevance to conference theme, and learning outcomes, if applicable.
  5. Brief biography for all presenters (maximum 150 words each).
  6. Technology needed (laptop, Internet access, etc.).
  7. A statement of professional responsibility (see below). 

* If the paper has multiple authors, please indicate who will be presenting at the summit.

 

Present a Panel, Workshop or Roundtable Discussion
Submission of panel, workshop or roundtable proposals should include these elements:

  1. Program title (maximum of 50 characters or spaces).
  2. Presenters’ contact information: Must include name, position, department, institution mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  3. Program abstract (maximum 50 words, for conference program).
  4. Program/session type (60-minute format): Identify the presentation method (e.g., panel presentation, workshop, roundtable discussion, etc.).
  5. Program description (maximum 250-400 words): Must include the program title, target audience, summary of program, relevance to conference theme, and learning outcomes, if applicable.
  6. Brief biography for all presenters (maximum 150 words each).
  7. Technology needed (laptop, Internet access, etc.).
  8. A statement of professional responsibility (see below).

Statement of Professional Responsibility 

In submitting the attached paper, panel or poster, I/we recognize that this submission is considered a professional responsibility. I/we agree to present this panel, paper, or poster if it is accepted and programmed. I/we further recognize that all who attend and present at the 2019 State System Summit at PennWest California must register and pay required fees.
