Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education and PennWest California (PennWest California) are committed to creating a safe, secure campus that is free from discrimination. In doing so, all students and all employees are required to complete various annual training courses to be in compliance with Pennsylvania and federal laws. These mandatory trainings are to be complete each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

What training must I complete?

ATLAS LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ALL EMPLOYEES & ALL CAL U STUDENT EMPLOYEES)


All Employees: Annual required compliance training via ATLAS (Apply, Train, Learn, and Succeed) Learning Management System

In cooperation with Office of Human Resources, all employees are required to complete the following training courses each year:

  • Harassment and Discrimination Prevention – Supervisor (2019)
  • Harassment and Discrimination Prevention – Nonsupervisor (2019)

All employees will receive a registration email (per course) from ATLAS with course and login access; or, you can follow the steps below to access your training courses in ATLAS

Step 1:  Log on at:  https://esu.csod.com/

Step 2:  Enter your Username (which is your CAL U email address without the @pennwest.edu)

Step 3:  Enter your ATLAS Password

Step 4:  Launch each training course via Your Transcript (located on the right side of the page)

Please be sure to disable your pop-up blocker while you are proceeding with these trainings.  ATLAS recommends that you use the following Internet Browsers:  Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.  (ATLAS does not work well with Internet Explorer at this time.) 

ATLAS recommends the following Assistive Technologies:  NVDA or VoiceOver (OS X Yosemite).  If needed, there is an Accessibility Mode you can turn on at the start of your training course.

CAMPUS SECURITY AUTHORITY (UNIVERSITY DESIGNATED CSA EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS)


Designated Campus Security Authority (CSA) training

In-person Campus Security Authority (CSA) training will be offered each semester. However, if you are unable to attend an in-person training session, then you can complete the training here online.

Campus Security Authority (CSA) is a term used in The Clery Act to describe someone who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities.  The regulations that govern The Clery Act (34 CFR 668.46) define a CSA as:

  • A campus police department or a campus security department of an institution.
  • Any individual or individuals who have responsibility for campus security but who do not constitute a Campus Police Department or a campus security department, such as an individual who is responsible for monitoring entrance into institutional property.
  • Any individual or organization specified in an institution's statement of campus security policy as an individual or organization to which students and employees should report criminal offenses.
  • An official of an institution who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, including, but not limited to, student housing, student discipline, and campus judicial proceedings.

LAWROOM BY EVERFI: EDU: PROTECT CHILDREN (PENNSYLVANIA) TRAINING (ALL EMPLOYEES & ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES)


All Employees and PennWest California Student Employees:  
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Mandated Reporter LawRoom training

LawRoom by EVERFI:  EDU:  Protect Children (Pennsylvania) Training has been vetted by Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education and the collective bargaining units representing employees on our campus.  All individuals on the State System's payroll, including universities employees (management, faculty and staff, as well as student employees:  work-study students, paid interns, graduate assistants, etc.) are required to complete this training course annually. If you are active on PennWest California's payroll, then you are in the LawRoom system. 

The State System does NOT accept any other training as a replacement for completing this course. The LawRoom by EVERFI system will email each employee with a personal login password and course link, and will email monthly reminders until the course is completed.

NOTE:  LawRoom's training system requires internet access via Chrome, Firefox, IE 10 or 11 and runs on HTML5.  If you are having trouble accessing your LawRoom by EVERFI training, contact UTech Services (724-938-5911) to have your browser updated and/or try accessing the training from another computer.

DISCRIMINATION PREVENTION TRAINING (ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEE TRAINING)


Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education and PennWest California requires all employees to complete mandatory Equal Opportunity / Discrimination training annually each fiscal year, July 1 - June 30, in compliance with federal and Pennsylvania state laws, as well as the University's policies.

Currently, the Director of Equal Opportunity, Compliance and Title IX Coordination offers in-person training sessions or online training courses. Additionally, an employee can complete the online Equal Opportunity / Discrimination Prevention training by clicking on the link below:

Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education and PennWest California requires all students (traditional, nontraditional, undergraduate, graduate, full-time, part-time, on-campus, and Global Online) to complete mandatory Equal Opportunity / Discrimination Prevention training annually each fiscal year, July 1 - June 30, in compliance with federal and Pennsylvania state laws, as well as the University's policies.  Students can complete the online training by clicking here.
