Dr. Jodi Dusi

Biography

Dr. Jodi Dusi is a professor and the director of the CAPTE accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.  She is an alumna of Duquesne University, where she earned her master's degree in physical therapy and her Ph.D., which focused on women's health physical therapy including urinary incontinence. Dr. Dusi has been teaching in the PTA program for over 10 years and is active in teaching, service and research.

Dr. Dusi's research interests include women's health, as well as technology in education. She has presented her research at the 2012 and 2014 APTA Combined Sections Meetings, as well as Apple's Fueling the Learning Experience Workshop held at California University. She, along with Dr. Kelly Lindenberg at Slippery Rock University, was awarded the PASSHE Foundation Highmark Healthcare Academic Program Development Grant for her project titled Developing the collaborative relationship between physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students through the use of technology and shared case-study experiences. Dr. Dusi has served as member and chair of several thesis committees for students in the Graduate Athletic Training program.

Dr. Dusi serves as the Physical Therapist Assistant Club adviser, and she and her students have participated in activities such as the yearly University Health Fair and Science Olympiad. In addition, the PTA students under her guidance have delivered informational sessions at Mon Valley YMCA, Monongahela Valley Hospital (Dean Ornish Program), and at a mission in Jamaica via tele-conferencing. Community projects include the Jarrod's Box project, which involves collecting toys for chronically ill children and raising funds for local charities.
