Biography
Mezzo soprano Lisa Brovey Kovach performs frequently as soloist in operas, musicals, concerts, recitals, churches and weddings. She has sung in more than 40 opera productions with the Pittsburgh Opera at the Benedum Center, as a member of the Opera Chorus, and has performed the role of Sister Lillianne in the Pittsburgh premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking. Some of her favorite opera roles performed have been The Mother in Amahl and The Night Visitors, Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw, Arminda in La Finta Giardiniera, and The Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, among others. Her musical theater roles include The Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, Bloody Mary in South Pacific, and Golde in The Fiddler on the Roof. She has sung as soloist upon numerous occasions with The Beesontown Singers and The Greater Uniontown Chorale. She is a past winner of The Pittsburgh Concert Society. Lisa has been an adjunct professor with the PennWest California faculty, teaching private voice instruction, since 2002, and adjunct professor of private voice at Point Park University since 1995. Lisa, along with her husband, Joe, and two daughters, lives in Long Branch, Pa.
