Biography

Dr. Michelle Early Torregano is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus area of Language, Culture, and Society. Her dissertation is titled “Clean Slate: Making Sense of Public Education in the “NEW” New Orleans”. Her research and presentations address educational policy and equity for underrepresented groups, preparing pre-service teachers for engagement in diverse populations, and multicultural education.

Dr. Torregano is a native New Orleanian with 26 years as a teacher, principal, and district administrator in the New Orleans Public Schools. She was also the Frederick Douglass Visiting Scholar (2010 – 2011) at California University of Pennsylvania.
