Biography

Sheleta Camarda-Webb leads the University’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as interim chief DEI officer.

 

Camarda-Webb has more than 25 years of experience in student affairs and diversity education. Her work includes numerous guest lectures, facilitated workshops and discussions on LGBTQA+ issues, power and privilege, and race and cultural identities.

 

A Cal U alumna, Camarda-Webb has worked at her alma mater since 1991, primarily in student affairs, residence life and diversity education. She is a founding member of the University’s Safe Zone Allies Program. In addition, she has advocated for and informed policies and practices around issues such as gender-inclusive restrooms and housing, as well as a preferred name policy.

 

Since being named director of the University’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in 2015, Camarda-Webb has worked to foster a welcoming environment for all members of the Cal U community. In 2019 she was named co-chair of the University’s Presidential Advisers for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

 

She understands that cultural consciousness is an ongoing process, and she must continue to learn, grow and embrace diversity and inclusiveness in an ever-changing world.
