Dr. Shelly Fetchen-DiCesaro is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Science. Dr. DiCesaro has various roles in the department which include serving as graduate athletic training program coordinator and undergraduate athletic training program clinical education coordinator. Additionally she is entering her 6 th year as the licensed athletic trainer for Cal U Women's Basketball. Prior to coming to Cal U, Dr. DiCesaro taught courses in the Exercise and Rehabilitation Science department at Slippery Rock University and was an assistant professor of exercise science at the University of Akron.       

Dr. DiCesaro is an alumna of the Cal U Athletic Training Education Program and received a master's degree in clinical exercise physiology from The George Washington University, D.C. She received a doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh in exercise physiology with an emphasis in sports medicine.

 Dr. DiCesaro's research interests include pediatric sports medicine and gender differences in non-contact ACL injuries. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine. She has presented papers at regional, national, and international conferences and has received numerous state and national research grants pertaining to sports medicine and young athletes. Additionally, she serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training, Athletic Therapy Today and Athletic Training and Sports Therapy and is an internal reviewer for the National Athletic Training certification exam. DiCesaro serves as Chairperson for the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS) Ethics Committee, co-chairs the PATS convention
