Commencement Activities

Tickets are NOT issued/required to attend our commencement ceremonies. Families and friends of our graduates are welcome to attend without tickets. 

Please refer to the graduation timeline for a more detailed listing of graduation-related activities this semester.



Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, formal ceremonies will NOT be held in May 2020. Stay tuned for details about how Cal U will celebrate its graduates. All January, May, and August 2020 graduates are invited to attend our December 2020 Commencement ceremonies.


 

Graduate Commencement Activities (master and doctoral degree-seeking students) 

December 11, 2020

  • President’s Reception for Graduate Students, 5 p.m., South Conference Wing, Convocation Center
    • Reception is for graduate students graduating this semester and invited faculty and staff only. Please be aware that guests are not permitted.
    • RSVPs due December 1, 2020 at 4 p.m.
  • Student Check-in/Assembly, 5:45 p.m., South Conference Wing, Convocation Center 
    • Instructions and details for the ceremony will be reviewed during student line-up/assembly; there is no formal rehearsal prior to the ceremony.
  • Graduate Commencement Ceremony, 7 p.m., Convocation Center
    • Convocation Center doors open to guests at 5 p.m. Guests should be seated no later than 6:45 p.m. 

 

Undergraduate Commencement Activities (bachelor and associate degree-seeking students) 

December 11, 2020

  • Undergraduate Commencement Rehearsal, 11 a.m., Convocation Center 
  • President’s Luncheon for Undergraduate Students, 12-2 p.m., Heritage Lounge, Natali Student Center
    • Luncheon is for undergraduate students graduating this semester and invited faculty and staff only. Please be aware that guests are not permitted.
    • RSVPs due December 1, 2020 at 4 p.m.

December 12, 2020

  • Student Check-in/Assembly, 8:45 a.m., Line-Up Locations (to be provided)
  • Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony, 10 a.m., Convocation Center
    • Convocation Center doors open to guests at 8 a.m. Guests should be seated no later than 9:15 a.m.

TICKETS

Tickets are NOT issued/required to attend our commencement ceremonies. While families and friends of our graduates are welcome to attend our ceremonies without tickets, we ask that you please be aware that there is not unlimited seating capacity at our Convocation Center. For this reason, graduates (particularly undergraduates) are asked to please be considerate when planning which of their guests will be representing them at the ceremony.

Watch the ceremonies online via live stream if you are not able to attend in person. Access details for the live stream will be posted online and sent to graduating students a few days prior to the ceremonies.
