Sancomb boasts a 216-115 record (.653) as a head coach over the previous 11 seasons at Wheeling Jesuit University, where the Cardinals play as members of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) and Mountain East Conference (MEC).

Wheeling Jesuit captured the 2018 MEC Tournament Championship after advancing to the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship in 2017. Under Sancomb, Wheeling Jesuit was ranked No. 1 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 poll in recent years, and the team featured the 2017-2018 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association National Player of the Year in Haywood Highsmith.

The Cardinals recorded at least 21 wins in each of the last four years under Sancomb, with the program tallying 100 victories during that span.

Sancomb succeeds former head coach Kent McBride, who stepped down last month to spend more time with his family. A news conference will be held to introduce coach Sancomb at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in the North Wing of the Convocation Center.
