Sophomore Brian Alsobrooks boasts 3.96 GPA.
California University of Pennsylvania sophomore Brian Alsobrooks was recently selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team as a kicker
by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
With his selection, Alsobrooks is now eligible for consideration on the Google Cloud
Academic All-America Teams that will be announced next month. The Vulcans have now
featured at least one academic all-district honoree in 10 of the last 11 years.
Alsobrooks finished the year ranked third among kickers in the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) with 68 points. He converted 9-of-13 field-goal attempts
with a long of 36 yards and made 41-of-45 PAT attempts this season. Alsobrooks, who
also served as the team's punter, kickoff specialist and backup quarterback, made
multiple field goals in a game twice this season, including three field goals at Mercyhurst.
A native of Michigan, Alsobrooks boasts a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average (GPA)
while pursuing a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance
and a minor in management. He earned both PSAC Scholar-Athlete status and the D2ADA
Academic Achievement Award last year after previously attending Eastern Michigan.
To qualify for the academic all-district honors, student-athletes must maintain a
cumulative 3.30 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic
standing at their institution. Nominees also must have participated in at least 50
percent of the team's games and be a starter or important reserve with legitimate
athletic credentials. The district consists of all schools in the PSAC, Mountain East
Conference (MEC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
