University will host the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Championships May 9-11.
The Vulcans will host 20 teams and eight individuals at the Totteridge Golf Club from
May 9-11 in Greensburg, Pa. Cal U will be hosting the regional event for the first
time in program history. The Vulcans hosted a 13-team invitational at Totteridge Golf
Course for a fall preview event and eight of the 13 teams will be returning to the
course for the regional championships.
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team
from each regional will advance to the NCAA National Championships, which will be
played at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia, from May 20-24. The
remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in
the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum
number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by
the Mountain East Conference.
The Vulcans were one of seven at-large selections from the Atlantic Region, as Charleston
(W.Va.), Virginia Union and West Chester earned automatic qualifiers after winning
their respective conference tournaments. Fellow at-large selections include IUP, Mercyhurst,
Gannon, West Liberty, Concord and Millersville.
Cal U has been selected to the regional championship in each of the 12 seasons under
head coach Peter Coughlin.
