California University of Pennsylvania will host a financial wellness seminar on Nov. 12.

Financial experts will offer information about student debt, student loans, identity theft and budgeting from 9 a.m.-12:10 p.m. in Morgan Hall Auditorium.

Speakers come from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

The event is an outreach effort by the CFPB Financial Education Exchange Program. It is organized by the Cal U Finance Club and sponsored by the Department of Business, Economics and Enterprise Sciences.

Students from Carmichaels Area High School who will be starting a finance lab at the school have been invited to attend.

“Many people in our nation, especially youth, are facing financial challenges due to the lack of financial education and sound self-discipline,” said Dr. Nan Li, associate professor of finance at Cal U.

“As adviser to the Finance Club, I want to meet the needs of our students and the local community for financial literacy education and counseling through the integration of our professional knowledge, existing educational programs, student-oriented activities and outside resources.”

Admission is free, and the public is welcome. To reserve a seat and packet of financial literacy resources, please visit tinyurl.com/calufinancial. Those who cannot attend may view the presentation live at tinyurl.com/calufinancestream.
