California University of Pennsylvania plans a day full of art and music on May 2.

Admission to the events is free, and the public is welcome to attend. Free parking will be available in Lot 4.

The President’s Backyard Celebration: Two stars from “The Voice” and “American Idol” will perform an outdoor concert on the Quad, at the center of campus. Chris Jamison, a Pittsburgh native who competed on the seventh season of “The Voice,” will perform at 6 p.m. Gabby Barrett, of Munhall, Pa., who placed third on season 16 of “American Idol,” will take the stage at 7 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair. Food will be available for purchase.

The event also will feature games and activities. The concert will be moved to Steele Hall in the event of inclement weather.

Vulcan Art and Languages Party: Vulcan Hall, near the center of campus, will be full of activity from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. May 2. Art students will display their prints, jewelry, drawings and paintings. Live music will be performed by student musicians. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m., pottery created by members of the Pottery Club will be on sale in the Ceramics Studio, near Vulcan Hall.

“When you live on campus, as I do, the Quad is your backyard,” says University President Geraldine M. Jones. “We invite the community to join the fun as we celebrate our students and mark the end of the spring semester.”
